Spec V Rumors Abound

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

A few posts ago I mentioned the Nissan GT-R Spec V. While browsing my favorite sites, I noticed that there is now ‘confirmation’ on several of these rumors of the Spec V. Here is a list of the ones that are true that have been reported by Japan:

  • The Spec-V is due for release in October 2008
  • Rays Forged Aluminium Six Spoke 20″ Wheels
  • Carbon Rear Wing
  • Carbon Front Seats
  • No rear seats, carbon storage area replaces rear seats
  • Rear strut tower bar
  • Updated carbon rear diffuser
  • Carbon Ceramic brake rotors were made optional
  • GR6 Transmission tweaked
  • Power output: 520ps
  • Torque increased to: 61kg/m²
  • Boost increased to 0.85 bar
  • Weight: 1640kg
There are a few more rumors that went along with this list, however they haven’t been confirmed so I just left them out. As sick as the Spec V sounds, there is some bad news. The launch has been delayed from its planned October launch. I hope this gives Nissan more time to prep the car to compete with the incoming Lexus LF-A. Not that I’m worried the LF-A will outperform the GT-R, just saying, Nissan should be prepared.

GT-R Spec V

There are/were rumors on several GT-R based websites about this photo being the next Spec V. People are claiming that the new Spec V will post 7:25 lap times at the Nurburgring. That’s blazing fast, in case you were wondering. Nissan dropped the weight to 3,615 lbs, and the Spec V is expected to make roughly 520 horsepower.

Doing some searches on Youtube brought up a decent video of some spy footage of the Spec V doing some testing.
